Involving the Urban Public in Urban Tree Planting
Urban trees are very important in our environment. For us to achieve the noble goal of having enough trees in an urban area, we need to win and retain the good will, support and input of all the relevant stakeholders. The urban public and residents are the one most important stake holders that cannot be ignored. This is because they are the numerical majority who are there at the grassroots, where the trees are grown. First they need to be accurately educated on the importance of trees in urban environment, both in their day and for future generations. Once this is achieved by destroying their ignorance then their ignorance will not destroy them by inciting them to destroy the trees in their environment. This can be done by involving them in tree planting activities during special events like world environment day among others. The result will be that the urban dweller will feel that they own the process.
